Kerncliff Park

Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Rahim

A couple of friends and I took a walk through what was once a quarry, now Kerncliff Park in Burlington, Ontario. The greenery along the trails had so many beautiful dots of orange, purple, white and yellow. The occasional dragonfly would momentarily hover, and then fly off.

The best experience of this park was walking along a wooden bridge through a big open marsh-like area with a natural stone backdrop. You could turn around 360 degrees and see tall reed grass in the water everywhere, harmoniously swaying in the gentle breeze like a symphony. It seemed like an oasis for the few red-winged blackbirds flying from spot to spot, serenading us with their distinctive song. We sat on the benches that were intermittently along the bridge to rest and take in the reflective atmosphere. Being amidst such an open and quiet naturalized space felt free and peaceful.

  • This is such a beautiful and unique spot. Your words and pictures so nicely portray a peaceful place to spend some time on a summer afternoon. The first picture of the wooden walkway is so welcoming. I love the shot of the cliff.
    It looks so majestic!
