Red Bread, Burlington Beach and Pomona Mills Park

Al-Hamdu Lillah, I recently learned to make a childhood favorite called Red Bread, a Guyanese dessert which is also called Salara. The filling is made with coconut. This was my first time working with yeast, and insha Allah it has opened the way for me to make new kinds of dishes.

The below nature photos were taken during some recent walks to Burlington Beach and Pomona Mills Park. Thanks to my long-time friend who took me through Pomona Valley which is located in Old Thornhill.

  • Mashallah Those desserts would hit the spot right now. It’s amazing how food tastes so good when you’re fasting. They remind me of Swiss rolls and I must try them one day.

We need to hit up the that beach spot.

  • I love the contrast between the moody and ruggedness of the pictures at Burlington Beach and the bright cleanliness of Pomona Mills. Both are beautiful. The red bread looks so delicious.
