16th Day of Ramadan

Al-Hamdu Lillah, today was the 16th day of the blessed month of Ramadan. One of the names of this month is "The Month of the Qur'an". Through part of today's walk, I listened to an audio lecture about the Holy Qur'an. It was beautiful to experience a combining of learning and nature.

The below photos were taken today in Oakville at a pond near Great Lakes blvd and Creek Path Ave and on some trails off of Nautical Park. Among the birds I saw were woodpeckers and goldfinches.

Around the pond, I noticed a gentlemen with a zoom lens on his camera taking photos of birds. He was kind enough to speak with me for a time. He told me he got into photography in 1979 and specifically bird photography 5 years ago. He was a wealth of information when it came to birds and I learned so much in our short but enlightening conversation.

Interestingly enough, a famous poem about birds was referenced in the audio lecture I had been listening to just before.

  • I really like your creative note and beautiful pics of nature. It’s interesting to note that blue shade is prominent in all three pics; the sky, the reflection in pond water and flowers (of Siberian squill plants!). Blue, as you know, represents inward looking, creative journeys and is widely used as a metaphor of wisdom and inner depth. Your words are reflective of all this. Great! Thanks for sharing this insightful treat. Syed Yazdani
